The State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Montana Historical Society invite grades 6-12 social studies educators to a free professional development workshop, “Innovation on the Plains: Teaching History With Primary Sources,” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT on October 16 at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora.  Examine moments of innovation across the upper Great Plains during the 1900s using primary sources.  Lesson plan strategies align with North Dakota and Montana social studies standards as well as National History Day programs.  Earn nine hours of professional development or Office of Public Instruction renewal units.  Lunch and a travel stipend are provided.  Learn more and apply for the workshop by October 1 at ndstudies.gov/teacher-workshops, calling 328-2794 or shsprograms@nd.gov.
